Hino Trucks Break Sales Records

Following the release of the 2021 truck sales figures, Hino Australia joins Fuso and Mercedes-Benz in issuing a statement around their record-breaking sales year. Over 6,000 new Hino trucks were sold in Australia in 2021, which is the largest volume ever sold by the manufacturer in Australia in one year. The President and CEO Hino Australia, Sam Suda said their 18% market share for the year was a strong outcome, supply issues especially around the computer chip shortage impacted the results.

According to Mr. Suda, even with the substantial backing from Hino Japan, the task of aligning demand with supply was a challenge that persisted throughout 2021. Regrettably, this circumstance is projected to endure into 2022 as well.

New Models Impress Buyers

The recently launched Hino 700 Series has garnered remarkable customer acclaim, surpassing expectations with pre-launch orders. Mr. Suda acknowledged that Hino has received more orders for the FY3036 and FY 3048 models in the past 5 months than in the entire previous 4-year period. This success underscores the robust adoption of the 700 Series within the heavy-duty market.

In the year 2021, the Hino 300 Series emerged as a standout performer for the company. Since its debut in the middle of 2020, the 300 Series has achieved an impressive 23.3% share of the light-duty truck segment, reflecting a nearly 1% growth compared to 2020.

One of the primary attractions for customers considering the 300 Series is the availability of hybrid models, as confirmed by Hino. The sales figures for 2021 revealed exceptionally strong performance for these hybrid models, which are fully compliant with Euro 6 emission standards.

Mr. Suda elaborated that the delivery of the 500 Series Standard Cab faced substantial challenges due to global supply disruptions. Despite these difficulties and a decline in sales compared to recent years, Hino managed to conclude 2021 with a commendable 31.4% market share within the medium-duty truck segment.

What’s New in 2022 for Hino?

Given the impressive sales achievements, it's evident that prospective truck buyers will be enticed to explore the diverse range of Hino models when navigating their purchasing journey. Starting from January 2022, customers opting for the 500 Series will be included alongside the 700 Series customers in receiving the advantage of Hino-Connect as a standard feature.

Hino-Connect represents cutting-edge technology that equips owners with a comprehensive array of real-time data tracking capabilities for monitoring their vehicle's performance, along with the added benefit of remote fault diagnosis. Hino emphasizes that this offering is part of their solutions package aimed at mitigating operational costs throughout the truck's service life.

New Facilities

In December, Hino unveiled its plans for expansion with the inauguration of a fresh facility in Queensland, coupled with a revitalization of its existing locations in Tamworth, NSW, and Toowoomba, QLD. These strategic moves are aimed at reinforcing the company's footprint within these states. Among the newly established Queensland dealerships, one has been custom-designed, featuring a noteworthy 25% augmentation in workshop space and parts storage capacity. Additionally, there's a substantial 50% increase in space allocated for vehicle display and storage.

These expanded facilities significantly enhance accessibility for customers and empower the dealership to offer expedited servicing options.
